Alright the thing I've been having a bit of trouble with is simply seeing other devices connected to my wireless network while connected wireless on my desktop. I can see all devices when I'm on laptop though. Is there any way of viewing connected devices without any programs?

Welcome to the site!

Angry IP Scanner, you don't have to install and you can see what devices are connected to what IPs. Or you could simply login to your wireless router and view connected devices ;)

Thank you, does this allow me access to those devices on my network if not secured to view files on them?

Wait, do you want to enable file sharing on your network/view the files on one machine and copy between them, or just see what is on the network?

I don't need to file share since I use externals for that, but I suppose you could consider my problem file sharing. I just simply can't see anything in my network when I'm on my desktop. I've tried enabling file sharing on here also.

What operating system are you running, and what are you actually trying to achieve?

The desktop is running XP, my laptop and others are running vista I believe, main goal is so I know exactly who is online at all times, making sure its only my roommates.

Easy, this can be configured in your router's settings. What model do you have?

Can't check router atm since I'm recovering at parents house for wisdom teeth. And its so no one can use the internet (its password protected with a personal made up password) besides us who are living with each other. (I live in a apartment)
