Alright the thing I've been having a bit of trouble with is simply seeing other devices connected to my wireless network while connected wireless on my desktop. I can see all devices when I'm on laptop though. Is there any way of viewing connected devices without any programs?

Angry IP Scanner, you don't have to install and you can see what devices are connected to what IPs. Or you could simply login to your wireless router and view connected devices

Wait, do you want to enable file sharing on your network/view the files on one machine and copy between them, or just see what is on the network?

I don't need to file share since I use externals for that, but I suppose you could consider my problem file sharing. I just simply can't see anything in my network when I'm on my desktop. I've tried enabling file sharing on here also.

The desktop is running XP, my laptop and others are running vista I believe, main goal is so I know exactly who is online at all times, making sure its only my roommates.

So you want to restrict internet access to certain PC's only in your house John? so no one else can steel your internet.

Easy, this can be configured in your router's settings. What model do you have?

Can't check router atm since I'm recovering at parents house for wisdom teeth. And its so no one can use the internet (its password protected with a personal made up password) besides us who are living with each other. (I live in a apartment)
