Maybe you could borrow one they are very common your family or friends should have one you will only need for a short time to get your PC going also they are cheap to buy under $20.00 for a cheap one. Then the PCHHQ team will get your PC going once we have one

Well I have searched a couple of different manuals for your computer and couldn't find a darn thing about the bios. I was never able to find the motherboard manual (which is the one I really needed) for free. The sites I searched (which were many) all pointed back to the same place, wanting you to buy it. Trying the PS2 Keyboard is a very good idea and definitely worth a try. We have got to get into the Bios or the boot options one way or the other. Because if the grub disk fails to work, chances are you will have to reinstall the Operating System (Vista). Which requires you to boot from CD. So we have to get this figured out!!

Mm, hello again guys. xD
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to borrow a keyboard from someone.
However, I have periodically tried starting up my PC. I just did a couple minutes ago, and recieved this:
The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the corrupted checksum.
Then, however, I tried restarting it again; and it went back to the repetitive cycle of the options I've already told you about.
Although; a couple days ago in the morning, I had tried for the heck of it and recieved something about the "Bootmgr". I didn't write exactly what it said down though
Sorry.
Is any of this meaningful to you all?

This means one of your system files is corrupt or your hard drive is failing.
To fix we still need to be able to boot to a CD so we still must figure out a way to do that. Your PC should have come with a manul and repair CD. Do you have any of these?

Yea, but I wanted to try a different one
We have to figure out how to get the pc to boot to your dvd/cd drive. I'll ask matt if he has any ideas.

What would be handy is the Vista Recovery disc - which allows you to boot to the Windows Recovery Environment (RE). Will try to find one to download - plenty of torrents but I'll try to find a straight d/l. Is about 120 Mb, allows you to do everything vista install disc does short of install. Get back soon

Can't find a straight d/l - torrent file is HERE
Click on this and use a suitable torrent client (such as utorrent ) to download it - won't take too long (could be 1/2 hour-hour if lucky). Am uploading an iso to rapidshare as I type, but may take a while.
Burn this disc (As before) - will boot as if installing Vista, a couple of screens in (fill in as you would) offered the choice to recover/repair the computer, select that and then select from the options supplied.
I suggest Startup repair and, if that fails, system restore.
Anyway, will repost with location of Restore disc iso when upload finished (not the fastest broadband here in UK - and I pay extra!)
Good luck
Hopefully this will sort it once you can boot from CD
P.S. Rapidshare wouldn't let me upload it - but torrent good!

That is the disk I was hoping you would have Jenni
I would recommend downloading it, and seeing if it will boot to that right off the bat. If not, I think we may get it to work if we pull the jumper on your motherboard to reset the bios, maybe that will activate it (This sentence is just a suggestion for myself lol)

Hmm. I burned the CD, and put it in, however; nothing different happened. :/

First, turn off your computer. Hold down the F10 key, and then turn on the computer. You should hear 2 beeps. Let us know if this works.
Also, when the computer starts up, try each of these combinations one at a time.
F2
Ctrl + Alt + Esc
Ctrl + Alt + Ins(ert)
Ctrl + Alt + Enter
Ctrl + Alt + S
Page Up Key
Page Down Key

Time for drastic measures. Acer didn't even sell this PC in UK due to some errors! We need to reset BIOS - as has been said no manuals anywhere (thanks Acer) so basically lets do it old school - take out the cmos battery, reboot, turn off and re-insert - booting again. Hopefully this will reset boot order so can boot from recovery CD.
One of you lads talk Jenni thru it (time diff) but should work. Can't find correct jumpers anywhere on web so it's back to the old way (works on a lot of PCs so worth a try!).
Good luck
Let me know...

Please try my F10 key combination first as that is said to reset the BIOS as well. If that doesn't work, then we will have to reset to pulling the CMOS battery.
