I'm having a prob with my password also. I downloaded programs and tried the safe mode and admin things with no help. With the programs i used i used the ISO Recoder thing that everyone says to use and went into the bios on my dell with XP Pro OS and went to the boot sequence and moved the only thing that said CD Rom to the top of the list and saved it then tried to use the programs and my computer would still boot from the hard drive and just ignore the cd. I'm not sure if its because the cd wasn't bootable so i tried to make a cd that was bootable and (not sure if i did it right) got nowhere. So i am unable to use the computer and am getting frustrated, any help at all would be great.

Is this a user password your having trouble with?? If it is check this video out. It will tell you how to reset a Windows XP Password with Backtrack 4 Live CD. Download Backtrack 4 here > http://www.remote-ex...k_download.html Once download is complete burn the ISO image to a CD. Boot from CD, and follow the instructions in this video.

I also see your having a burning problem follow these instructions and we will get you all fixed up. Download this ISO Burner > http://download.cnet...f9a4306d207bbe4 its called Free ISO Burner. Its very basic and very easy to use. Once installation is complete run the program and follow these steps to burn the iso image.
Also one thing you may or may not know. ISO images are what you need to be downloading for it to be a bootable image. There are other ones but ISO's are one of the more common and easier ones to work with.
- Step 1: Browse for the .iso image Click the button circled in the screenshot

- Step 2: Once you locate your image select it and click the open button > then click the Next button
- Step 3: On the next window > select your burn speed from the first drop down menu > choose 8x If you don't get 8x use 10x or 6x, but the slower the burn speed the better. > Make sure that Disc-At-Once raw P-W is selected in the second drop down menu > and that the Data Verify checkbox is checked > Then click the burn button. The burn will not take very long since the image is only 4 megabytes.

- Step 4: Once the burn is complete the disc will automatically eject.

One quick thing , when i go into my bios to make the cd rom the first in the boot sequence this is what i see
1. Onboard or USB Floppy Drive (Not Present)
2. Onboard SATA Hard Drive
3. Onboard IDE Hard Drive (Not Present)
4. Onboard or USB CD-Rom Drive
5. USB Device
now what i did was move the CD-Rom drive up to the #1 position and saved it, am i correct? cuz i dont see any other cd rom drives.

If its not booting from CD when your CD Drive is set to number 1 that means there is something wrong with the CD or the CD image.

When Backtrack finishes downloading i'll follow your directions to the letter and see if that helps, when i used other programs i followed the instructions and had more than just an iso file on the disk like people said i should but maybe something was amiss.

No i dont have a usb one at my disposal but i know the cd rom works cuz it was used earler the day all this happened. The computer never asked for a password before in the 2 yrs i've worked at this tattoo shop and my coworker restarted the pc for whatever reason and it all of a sudden asks for a password?

You said the bios said CD-ROM drive? What does the front of the CD drive say? If it is CD-ROM you will not be able to burn a cd.
