Ok i just used the Backtrack Method on my computer (its been awhile since I did it) and it worked well off course. (I was using Backtrack 3). The most important thing to remember is that Backtrack and the command line are very case sensitive. in the video that i posted earlier, after he opens up "chntpw" he then types a path name. chntpw -i
/mnt/sda1/
windows/system32/config/SAM. (the sda1 could be hda1 or hd0) to find out what yours is called click on the "K" in the bottom left (start button) > System > System Information > Partitions. You should only have one partition, note down what it says i.e. /mnt/sda1. Close when finished. Notice that in the video he makes windows all lowercase. When I was doing this I ran my command with windows in lowercase and i kept getting a bad command. Until I changed "windows" to "WINDOWS" then it worked and the rest of the steps were the same.
Make sure that WINDOWS and SAM are all caps, everything else is lowercase.
chntpw -i /mnt/sda1/WINDOWS/system32/config/SAM
After you get that command correct the rest is step by step from the video. Once Backtrack loaded up it took me 5 minutes to remove my password.
