To start I have upgraded everything on my computer except for the processor. I have given it 3GB of RAM, a 500gb Western Digital Harddrive, and a Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS w/512 of RAM Graphics Card (I know the Graphics Card isn't the best, but it sure is better than the onboard). My current processor is a junkie Intel Celeron 2.0GHz. I have an EliteGroup Motherboard that can support a Core 2 Duo Processor. It uses Socket LGA 775 so I have a wide range of choices. I have it narrowed down to two. These are the two that I am looking at.
Intel Core2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
or
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor
I just want some opinions on which one you think I should get.

Hi Pirate07
looking at CPU benchmarks here http://www.cpubenchm...et/cpu_list.php the E7500 appears to be slightly better is that your maximum budget for CPU? Wonder if we could get an E8400 for about that price?

Price isn't really an issue, I am trying not to spend more than $150, but if I have to for quality I will. You know how the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" The 8400 would be better I agree, I will have to price around a little more to see what i can come up with. Thanks for the post Matt

Hi Pirate07,
the Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor is much better for gaming and over clocking it's only $167.99 at NewEgg if you can save the extra $17.99 you will have a much more powerful processor for gaming and also better for overclocking
