Got a request, if anyone can help - have an ongoing accessibility project - now working with a charity for the disabled who are giving me input. Trying to find a multitouch screen overlay - for a client with arthritis who can't use a mouse. Need to demonstrate the app I have put together, hopefully we can put it in a few old folks home to help enable PC use. There's no way my charity will let me buy a touchscreen monitor - thought I might buy an overlay myself to demonstrate.
Know of a supplier?
Let me know

Interesting so this is for mouse navigation? They really need to come up with a good system for people with problem like that. They seem to have a lot for people with vision problems. Is touch navigation going to make it that much easier? Ever thought of using those big ball mouses or voice navigation?

Tried all them - some people really have a problem. Played with a multitouch at a demo - great toy! Seriously though, imagine screen rotated 90 degrees, on screen keyboard and touch navigation. Made a mock up and got a few old people to try it - loved it, half the time they have a problem co-ordinating mouse and pointer, this solves it to a large degree. Mainly thought of it due to native support in Win 7, and I think some Linux distros have good support; similar in practice to a tablet pc but, as always in my business, cost is a factor. If I can source suitable monitors eventually (after the demos), hardware does not have to be too expensive to support them, I would like to place them in old folks home around the area - would really help some people! Anyway, just thoght I'd get everyone looking around for me, someone might find a good supplier - don't even know if multitouch overlays exist! (I know the standard type do)

I've seen that company before, most of their products big, corporate display items etc. Waiting to hear back but couldn't find 17 - 19" (17 pref), have looked into getting a loan for the demonstrations from a local supplier - no luck yet. Could buy a suitable monitor for £250-300, but a bit beyond my personal means at moment (do what I do for the satisfaction), sure I saw an overlay once for about 80-100.
Of to bed now, check in tomorrow

Maybe second hand one of eBay may be the cheapest options. Since it's for the elderly one of the local PC shops could supply for free or at discounted price( there cost )
