Within the last 3 months i've had to use my system recovery disks twice. The problem is i restart my computer and when it loads it freezes up and i get a screen saying windows was unable to start and it asks to fix problem automaticaly and i do that and it says it was unable to fix and would i like to do restore point and i chose yes and it was unable to fix the prob. So i do system recovery and reinstall everything and i have no probs for a while and then it will happen again. Any ideas what prob might be.

There can be many reasons why your PC is doing this, virus, spyware, or corrupted. Is this happening right now? But your main problem is the OS itself. Vista is not very good at all. You might want to look into upgrading to Windows 7. Its much better than Vista, and faster too.

it's happening right now and im in the middle of the recovery. Could there be something wrong with the hard drive that would cause it to work for a while then stop all of a sudden?

Yes this can be a hardware problem but in your case I don't think it is. You said you have had this problem twice in 3 months and it has been the same problem every time? Instead of doing a Recovery, is there any way to can do a complete reformat? You would need a Vista DVD not just your Recovery Disks.

Yes your computer getting hot can contribute to issues. Now that you mention this you may have a hardware problem. Are all of your fans working on the inside? I would check this out first thing.

@wylde12
How old is your computer? The inside of your case could be full of dust which could be the source of heat problems. Try blowing out your case with some compressed air if it is dusty.
