Hi All :)

I have decided to run windows 7 so I'm installing it today. Just going down the street to get 2 x 500GB hard drives to run in RAID 0 to get a little extra speed out of my PC plus I need the space too. I'll let you know if I run in to any problems :P

You shouldn't run into any trouble at all. Your PC is going to run like a champ.... :D

Just a quick questions?? Is there any way that you can install the OS then install the Raid driver and set everything up from there? (I know you normally do it during the install). I would try the BIOS update. You may also look to see if you need SLIC or not in your BIOS.

No you can't it asks for it right at the start of the install so I insert the driver disk with the files I downloaded from http://downloadcente...=15251&lang=eng and thats when I get the error it's an intel DG33TL board. Whats SLIC?

Nevermind about the SLIC.... that is for OEM activation, You probably don't have to worry about that. I had to download on my wifes computer though. It's Definitely a driver problem we know that..... Have you set up RAID on that PC before, and Do you know for sure that the BIOS supports a RAID setup?

Here is how I setup my RAID 0 Config on my pc. Went into BIOS, disabled the raid array.
Completely wiped the drives.
Went into BIOS, enabled raid array.
Deleted all raid arrays if there were any recreated and then recreated the array.
Put in the CD, and set it to boot to dvd drive and it picked up the array as one drive.

If it doesn't pick up your drives, all you should have to do is find the correct driver and you should be good to go.

Ok guys it seems I have miss read the error  the error is related to CD/DVD driver "A required cd dvd device driver is missing" I have read it's becuase of burn errors but this is not the case becuase I have tried my windows 7 DVD in another PC without a glitch so I have read into this problem further and others have got a SATA DVD drive to get around the issue, mine is IDE like the others that have this problem. I have also installed latest BIOS update still the same error A required cd dvd device driver is missing. Any ideas?

i had this problem installing 7 on a PC recently. If I remember correctly was a Sony DVD drive. Replaced the drive and no prob - my solution anyway. Like you I knew my disc was OK as it was the old RC I've used b4. Just certain DVD drives clash. Was an OEM build so was surprised but found there are a few models it doesn't like. Now installed runs like a dream tho!

It seems to be an issue with some IDE DVD drives I went and purchase a new SATA DVD drive and installion has started ok in the process of intalling now. This is not a fix for the issue there is obviously somthing missed in the windows 7 installer related to ATA/ATAPI chipset.

Mmm
Still used IDE myself but def some erorrs somewhere. Couldn't even put old DVD drive in after install. Anyway - enjoy Win 7.
Got some good features - I'll send you some ebooks when I can - got a good selecton of info. Most of my fave software working well, a few exceptions but mainly positive results. Back to linux for some other stuff for me - another project!
