I had a question About software for PC Optimization. There is a lot of it on the internet and a lot of opinions about it.
I wanted to try something like that out myself to see the results, but could not find anything worth the attantion
I was wondering if any of the members here have read(or maybe written) some comprehensive reviews on PC tuning software?

You are definitely correct that there are tons of programs written out there for pc optimization. Here is the general idea of what you want to look for.

1. Cleans Temporary Files/Unused files left behind by uninstalled programs
2. Corrupt/Not used registry keys
3. Defragmenter
4. Startup/Background cleaner
5. Miscellaneous Tweaks

For these I would recommend:

1. Revo Uninstaller
2. CCleaner
3. Smart Defrag
4. HiJackThisor type msconfig (from the run line and uncheck unused items in the StartUp tab)


As for 5, there are tons of things that you can tweak, but it really depends on what type of pc you have: how much hard drive space, ram, etc.

I don't have much of a guide yet, I'll see if I can find the time this weekend and write one up
