If you use sound recorder in Windows 7, I am assuming Windows Vista as well, you will notice when you try to save your sound clip, it will default you to save as .wma and will not allow you to choose anything else.

Here is how to save the sound clip to .wav so you can easily convert it with Audacity or some other program.

Click the Start Orb, type soundrecorder /file yoursoundclip.wav

Record your sound clip and when you are done, choose wherever you would like to save your file. You will notice that your file will be saved in the extension .wav now :)
