I am in love with the alienware area 51 alx case, with all the motorized vents and funky lights, but am not willing to spend the 6k to get the monster so I am building my own. What is the most awesome looking case in your opinion whether it be features, lights, vents or whatever?

Please comment, this will be part of my AP physics project and I want it to look sweet when I show the class the internal capabilities as well as the sheer curb appeal.

Thanks!

The thing that makes a case look cool is a theme or something to reflect your personality.

What colors do you like? Are you looking for a big case or a small case? Liquid cooling or non liquid cooling? Do you want it to light up? If so what color? Do you want a bunch of fans or do you want to make it a really quiet pc?

well liquid cooling would be helpful, and I want it to maintain sort of a futuristic personality similar to that of the newer era alienware alien 51 alx. Black would be good and it needs to be very large and have the ability to stay very cool.

Here are a few cases you may want to look into. They are all ATX Full Towers which means they will have tons of room to add stuff (additional lights and gadgets can be added easily to all of these):

This case is pretty generic, many people have it, but it still looks cool and has a ton of space for additional components.
Antec Twelve Hundred Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

Has tons of lights built into it already.
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Blue RC-932-KKN3-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

Has more of a unique shape in it than the others.
Thermaltake Xaser VI VG4000BNSB Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

I like on this case that the front 5.25" drive bays are open, so if you add any displays or something, people can see them without having to open up a door.
Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS Black Aluminum / Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

This case is pretty cool since you can adjust what color you want the lights and it has a unique design.
XCLIO A380COLOR-PLUS Black 1.0 mm SECC / ABS Plastic ATTX Full Tower Computer Case - Retail

If you are willing to spend a ton of money on the case, this looks like a very unique case.
Thermaltake Level 10 VL30001N1Z Black Aluminum ATX Super Full Tower Gaming Station Computer Case - Retail

Sounds good. If you want to add any additional stuff such as LEDs LCD screens, fan controllers, etc, I would be glad to help!

For lights you can buy cold cathodes or led's to light up your case.

For LCD displays, you could try a few of these:
Scythe KM02-BK 5.25" Bay Fan Controller - Retail

I own one of these, they are pretty cool. The only concern is the viewing angle is pretty bad (ie, you have to be standing and looking at it directly, not from the sides)
NZXT SEN-001LX Sentry LX Aluminum dual bay fan controller - Retail

This looks really cool especially if you will be using your pc to watch movies, listen to music, watch tv, etc.
Antec Mult-Station Premier Deluxe IR receiver and remote - Retail

Other case mods would consist of actually making a modification to the case, such as adding your own plexiglas window to the side or finding a way to increase the efficiency of how you cool your pc, etc. Here is a link to a page that has a few cases that have been modified to the user's liking: http://content.techr...7_11-67902.html
