Okay, so I just recovered this old XP Home Edition laptop. The OS was all messed up though, so I thought of replacing the OS since I couldn't find the CD.
Later, though, I found the CD. It was the XP installation CD. I put it in, and it took FOREVER to load.
When it finally did, I got a few selections. One, which I picked, was "Reformat". I selected that, but then it asked for a password. I tried the admin password; didn't work. I tried leaving it blank or typing in Compaq; it didn't work.
When I boot my PC and press F2 (boot menu), it also asks for a password.
The problem is, no one set a password for the BIOS. I tried to use a BIOS password hack, which didn't work. I even tried a software to return the BIOS password, and that didn't work either.
I can boot the PC and log in as the admin, but I can't reformat it. Any help?
