Hi Members
Computer and internet use is an integral part of our everyday lives. Every aspect of our lives is accessible electronically, which brings considerable benefit – and, unfortunately, considerable risk. Our role is to shield you from that risk by providing powerful, easy-to-use protection that works efficiently and invisibly in the background so you can focus on using your computer, not worrying about security.
As the nature of threats continues to evolve - from computer - and web-borne viruses to complex exploits designed to steal information for financial gain, the nature of protection must also evolve. Using the latest technology developed by world-renowned security experts, AVG provides real-time defenses against real-time threats. With AVG software on your system, you can safely surf the net, create online profiles, shop, bank online, download files, store data, chat, and email, safe in the knowledge that your personal and professional information will not be stolen or misused.
In a nutshell, AVG enables people and businesses to use computers with confidence and without aggravation by protecting them from disruption and loss

LOL!! That is the funniest thing that I have ever heard someone say about AVG Free.

AVG is "garbage ware." This is what kind of protection that you get from AVG Free > AVG Free contains basic antivirus protection (base level only). > AVG Free does not contain Anti-Rootkit protection so rootkits may be hidden in your system.

> AVG Free does not contain Anti-Spam which can monitor and block SPAM and fraudulent e-mails.

> AVG Free does not contain the new Safe Downloads & Instant Messaging protection (Web Shield technology) so it does not screen your downloads and communication for viruses and spyware.

> AVG Free only includes the Safe Search protection which provides you with advice on search results. It does not protect against infected pages. Only AVG paid versions contain the Safe Surf technology.

> AVG free needs 256mb of RAM to run While Avast comes in at 28mb, 55mb when scanning. Source >
http://free.avg.com/...=fr_bn_free_670 > So why you would choose to use AVG Free over Avast or Avira? Avast and Avira both have detection ratings over 95% while AVG comes in at under 85%. Also AVG Free has a higher than average rate of false positives, and AVG also has limited support for compressed/archive types.
So AVG Free isn't such a smart choice after all. So if we want to protect are "electronic lives" we need to install a combination of security applications on your computer. There is no one program that can offer you complete protection. Here is how I have all Windows PCs setup. AV = Avast Home Edition, Spyware = Superantispyware Free, Malware = Malwarebytes, Firewall = Online Armor. I only have Avast, Superantispyware, and Online Armor running at startup. Malwarebytes is just used once a week for a scan. And I can honestly say that I have not had a virus on any computer for a long time.
