Just a quick question, trialing Win Server 2008 R2 and need to install anti-virus. Problem is that can't install my AV on any more PCs and most free apps won't run on server OSes. Anyone got any (reliable) suggestions - referring back to topic on AVG etc obviously, no resource hogs!

Cheers for your input...

Well about the best your going to do is free trail software. Business and Server Editions are quite expensive. Here are a few that I have personally used a few different times.

F-Prot > http://download.cnet...4-10066523.html
Avast Server Edition > http://www.avast.com...er-edition.html
Eset NOD32 Business Edition > http://www.eset.com/download/index.php
Kaspersky > http://www.kaspersky...trials_business

Now keep in mind that most of these require you to fill out a registration form in order to receive your download link. So I wouldn't use your main email address, unless you want a bunch of junk email. I have a throw away email for these sort of things. :D

Cheers for that, basically what I thought the answer was - but thought it worth a try. Only going to be running it for a few weeks so might go with NOD 32 (use eset anyway), only need 30/60 days. Thanks for the clarification. Just thought, might ask my pal who runs an 08 domain at work, we do some work together and he might let me use his vol license for a short period.

By the, at this moment (waiting for the gf to arrive after work so might have to hurry it) have just finished loading the full enterprise eval of Win 7 on my laptop, now installing ubuntu 9.04 dual boot. Wiped the HDD totally from it's XP/PCLinuxos existence. Look out for some posts as I'll probably have some questions in the near future. In fact I'll post in the LInux thread when up and running..:)
