I find McAfee to be slow as well. I find it is much better than AVG, however, I have seen a few viruses let through and am not the greatest fan of it. What do you think?

well I'm undecided this is why I'm looking for opinions on it and it is a little slow but I feel I must look at all of them to be fair

I have had friends who have gotten a free 1 year subscription/trial of Mcafee with their new laptop and it was pretty good. He had AVG and Norton running (not all at once!) to see if one detected more or less than the others. Mcafee scored pretty good in the set. AVG found the obvious ones with little drag on the system. Mcafee was a little better for problem finding. It found the obvious ones and some less obvious ones. Mcafee was similar in speed as AVG. Norton found a lot more than AVG or Mcafee. I don't know if that is because the program is finding false-positives or that it is actually finding more. It was the most costly in terms of resource management.

Great input some one that has actually seen it in action. Nortons is the worst one I have found so far to much of a hog!

I have used McAfee in the past and really didn't care for it much. It slowed my PC down a lot. It uses quite a bit of system resources. Not as much as Norton, but it ranks right up there with it. Also McAfee has a very slow scan. Not that is always a bad thing, but I like something that doesn't take all day.

McAfee is not looking so good! I wonder why paid A/V have dropped so badly in quality and performance over the last few year where the FREE ones have improved so much on no budget it don't make sense

Ive been using Nod32 after switching from avast and as soon as i installed it, it was picking up items avast has never brought up. It also stops you from entering sites that might be harmful.
